The ACGA @ KIAF/09

The Australian Commercial Galleries Association (ACGA) is pleased to be participating in the Korean International Art Fair 2009 (KIAF/09). This participation marks a number of firsts for the ACGA. Not only is this the first year that the ACGA has attended KIAF, it is also the first time that a selection of its members has exhibited internationally as a strong collective.

This year, four of the ACGA’s member galleries have united to share some of Australia’s finest contemporary art with discerning collectors and enthusiasts. Alcaston Gallery, Arc One Gallery, Niagara Galleries and Utopia Art Sydney are amongst the most important and exciting commercial galleries in Australia. Next year and in subsequent years, ACGA member galleries will exhibit an even wider selection of exemplary Australian contemporary art. The ACGA has made a long term commitment to exhibiting at KIAF and growing an appreciation of each other’s visual arts practice and culture.

As the ACGA is a not for profit body and is almost entirely supported by annual membership fees, this visit would not have been possible without funding assistance and the in-kind help of many people.

The ACGA’s gratitude is extended to the Australia Council for its grant assistance and the Australia Korea Foundation which has also provided financial support.

Importantly the ACGA thank the organisers of KIAF/09 for inviting us to take part in the fair. Their enthusiasm for increasing the mutual understanding of Australian and Korean contemporary arts is admirable.

The ACGA also notes the support of Austrade, in both Australia and Korea. Austrade has provided many hours of advice, the use of their facilities and on the ground support in Korea.
